History of Thoracic Spine Recovery:
Thoracic Spine Recovery became the focus of treatment when a 34-year-old man visited the Best Spine Hospital in Pune, seeking relief from chronic low back pain that had persisted for five years, along with right lower limb radiculopathy. The pain was constant and worsened with movement and log rolling. For five years, the patient and his wife struggled to find a proper diagnosis. About a year ago, his condition worsened to the point where he had to quit his job and remain at home. Over the past six months, he became completely bedridden, unable to perform simple tasks like going to the washroom, and became fully dependent on his wife and parents for daily activities.
The patient required help to get up, and in addition, he experienced evening fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, and night sweats. Each morning, getting out of bed was a difficult task. His gait caused severe pain, especially in his lower back, and flexing or extending his lumbar spine resulted in extreme discomfort, making these movements nearly impossible.

The MRI indicated osteitis and discitis at L1-L2, with abscess formation and collapse of the vertebrae. It also showed canal stenosis, which suggested Potts spine (spinal tuberculosis).

The histopathology revealed granulomatous inflammation, most likely due to tuberculosis.
Gene Xpert MTB/RIF with AFB Culture:
The test detected Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex (MTB) at a low level.
Condition On Discharge :
After the surgery, the patient was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis and treated with fixation, fusion, and debridement. He was then started on long-term anti-tubercular treatment (AKT) for one year. During his follow-up visit after one year, the patient expressed deep gratitude for the successful surgery performed by Dr. Sangram Rajale, widely regarded as the Best Spine Specialist in Pune.
