Patient History
Mrs. Agalave, 57, had endured low back pain for 2 years. Over time, she developed severe left leg pain, difficulty walking, and neurogenic claudication — pain and heaviness in the legs after short distances.
Before Treatment
Investigations:
X-ray: Anterolisthesis (forward slip) at L3–L4 and L4–L5
MRI:
Large disc extrusion at L4–L5 compressing the spinal canal and nerve roots
Disc bulge at L3–L4 encroaching both foramina
Degenerative spondylotic changes
Treatment
She underwent Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) at L3–L4 and L4–L5 under general anesthesia, using GESCO implants.
Post-op course:
Early in recovery, she developed wound discharge and fever. Our team acted immediately with wound culture testing, re-exploration, and later secondary suturing.
After Treatment
Final Outcome:
- Complete resolution of back and leg pain
- Walking independently without support
- No radicular symptoms
- Fully active after 2 years of physical limitation
Today, she is pain-free, independent, and enjoying her daily activities again.

This case proves that even after years of symptoms, the right surgery combined with careful post-op care can produce life-changing results.
